- A dimensional drawing of the rubber part.
- Engineering tolerances for the part. Tolerance specifications that are too rigid may be unnecessary and can increase production costs by as much as 30 percent. Use realistic tolerances.
- A list of the substances and solutions to which the part will be exposed.
- Operating temperature in which the part will be used.
- Additional physical properties required, e.g. abrasion resistance, compression set, etc.
- Expected service life of the part.
- Approximate quantity required.
- A general statement concerning past experience and problems with the part.
